Faye Combs of Richmond, CA   |   President

Faye is serving her second term on the Board of Directors of VALUE, Inc., class of 2011. She was elected President of VALUE, Inc. in 2008.

Faye also serves on the governing boards of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Berkley, CA; the Center for Social Ministry, Inc.; and Sisters United. She served on the advisory boards of The Follow-Through Program, Oakland Public Schools in Oakland, CA; and the Tele-Care Program, Alta Bates Hospital in Berkley, CA. Faye was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humanities in 1987 from Monrovia College in Monrovia, Liberia; and was recognized as the Christian Woman of the Year in 2003 from the Epsilon Phi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She has presented at numerous state and national conferences and helped plan conferences at the state and national levels. Faye is employed by the City of Berkley, CA as its Meals on Wheels Portable Meals Coordinator.

Patricia Golden of Richmond, KY   |   Director    

Patricia is serving her second term on the Board of Directors of VALUE, Inc., class of 2012. She was elected Treasurer of VALUE, Inc. in 2008.

Patricia received the Susan Green Award for Adult Learner Leadership from VALUE, Inc. in 2003. She was interviewed for Emmy Award wining ABC news segment Report Card on Literacy. She has presented at several state and national conferences. Patricia works as Learner Advocate at Bluegrass Literacy in Lexington, KY. She has worked for Operation Read in Lexington, KY as a Learner Support Specialist and Bluegrass Literacy as a Volunteer In Service To America (VISTA, the domestic Peace Corps).

Elaine is serving second term on the Board of Directors of VALUE, Inc., class of 2012

Elaine has testified before Massachusetts State Legislature and appeared on Rolanda and Sally Jesse Raphael TV talk shows. She has presented at state and national conferences since 1987 and helped plan many conferences at local, state and national levels.
Elaine presently works at the District of Columbia Public Library's Adult Literacy Resource Center. Previously, she worked for Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts, initially as a Volunteer In Service To America (VISTA, the domestic Peace Corps).

Roger is serving his first term on the Board of Directors of VALUE, Inc., class of 2012.

Roger chairs the Vermont State Student Advisory Board and serves on the Appropriations Board for Vermont Adult Learning, Inc. He has served on the Franklin-Grand Isle Vermont Adult Learning Board of Directors and the Vermont Adult Learning State Board of Directors. He has testified before the Vermont State Senate and House of Representatives. Roger is a retired logger.
