• Adult learners develop the skills to help the programs that helped them; adult learners are a tremendous and underused resource for literacy programs.

• Adult learners provide a unique and important consumer perspective on what works and what doesn't work in literacy programs and related public policies.

VALUE Increases Awareness

• Policy-makers and the general public learn from us that adult literacy is critical to the economic security of our nation and the well-being of its citizens.

• Through the media, we strive to reduce the shame and stigma of adult low literacy and create an environment in which adults readily improve their literacy skills.

Our Programs

Social Change Initiative ... VALUE is working to change attitudes and public policies on adult low literacy in the U.S.

Leadership Institutes ... VALUE brings together adult learner leaders and literacy practitioners from around the country to share promising practices, discuss challenges, and celebrate successes.

Leadership Training ... VALUE trains teams of adult learner leaders and literacy practitioners to work together to improve their programs.

Resource Center ... VALUE collects and shares information on learner involvement in adult literacy programs throughout the U.S.
